GENERAL SUMMARY: Advises students on aspects of study abroad within the guidelines of applicable laws and college and departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the senior study abroad adviser and works with faculty, staff, external study abroad providers, international organizations, students and domestic and foreign governmental offices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Advises students on study, work, volunteer, and internship abroad opportunities, particularly summer study abroad.
2. Promotes and coordinates non-Agnes Advantage scholarships for study abroad, both institutional and external.
3. Supervises Benjamin A. Gilman “follow on” projects for returning study abroad students, who were Gilman recipients.
4. Collaborates with the senior study abroad adviser on advisement, information sessions, pre-departure orientation, re-entry programs, presentations and other tasks.
5. Manages the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) Ambassadors Program, which involves one or more returned ASC students to promote study abroad and to coordinate extracurricular, enrichment activities for exchange and international students.
6. Provides information to students and faculty regarding ASC policies and procedures related to study abroad and exchange programs.
7. Supports all functions of the Office of International Education, including office sponsored events; some of which are not study abroad, such as, International Student Orientation, Photo Voices, Impressions of a New Culture, and the “International Express” program sponsored by the International Student Association.
8. Provides front desk coverage during senior study abroad adviser’s walk in hours and at other times.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: BA/BS in related occupational field of study.
Experience: Minimum of two years of employment experience in the field of study abroad or related area.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with special expertise in cross-cultural communication.
• Previous participation in study abroad preferred.
• Foreign language fluency preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a professional and collegial capacity with students, administrators and faculty.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Prior international experience.
• Ability to prepare and present workshops for students and faculty and prepare promotional materials related to study abroad.
• Proficiency in PC based software: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook; background in database management and web page development; and Photoshop.
• Proficient in use of social media.
• Experience with student (or related) event planning.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Must be willing to be trained to drive the 15 person school bus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. On campus work is performed in an office. There is some international travel involved.
