GENERAL SUMMARY: Assists the head tennis coach with leadership
and coaching of the team with a primary emphasis on recruiting within applicable
laws, NCAA rules and regulations, coach’s rules and practices, and college and
departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the director of athletics and
physical education or other designated person and works with student athletes,
college athletic directors, coaches, high school athletic directors and
coaches, hotel and restaurant management, alumnae, and their spouses to further
develop the women’s intercollegiate programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides
leadership and coaching for the women’s intercollegiate tennis team with
primary emphasis on recruiting.
- Recruiting
includes: travel to tournaments, maintains contact with prospective
student-athletes through student recruiting
management software, phone calls, emails, and other contact methods.
- Assists
prospective student-athletes through the admission process.
- Coordinates
on and off-campus recruitment activities within the guidelines of the NCAA.
- Complies
with NCAA, GSAC, college and department of athletics regulations and policies.
- Assists
with scheduling, implementing, and attending all pre-season, in-season, and
post-season practices and contests.
- Oversees
strength and conditioning.
- Prepares
athletes for competition and performs post-season evaluations.
- Assists
with making team travel arrangements
- Supervises
the laundering and care of team uniforms, and care and maintenance of team
facilities and equipment
- Report weekly recruiting contact data; participate
in designated staff functions including job related in-service training.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Undergraduate degree required;
Experience:
Tennis coaching experience preferred; collegiate playing experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of fitness
concepts and techniques, NCAA rules and regulations, tennis rules and scoring.
- Familiarity with recruiting
techniques, high school coaches and athletes, and student-athlete concerns.
- Strong interpersonal and
communication skills and abilities.
- Ability to work with diverse
populations and ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others.
- Demonstrate ability to work
independently and to maintain confidentiality
Other:
- Irregular hours are required on a
regular basis.
- Travel required from office to
other locations on a regular basis.
- Coaches and assistant coaches must
comply with all NCAA rules and regulations, and have a duty to cooperate with
and furnish the NCAA and the college with truthful and accurate information
regarding rules violations. Coaches
and/or assistant coaches may be suspended or terminated if found to be in
deliberate or serious violation of NCAA regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Expect
intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, running, walking,
throwing, and moving of light objects. Work is performed on sports fields and
courts and in an office.
