After taking a 1-0 first-half lead, Agnes Scott fell to Piedmont 3-1 in the GSAC Semifinals at Maryville College on Friday.
The Scotties took a 1-0 lead 41 minutes into the match, when Clara Kienzle put the ball in the net off an assist from Caitlin Suilmann.
Piedmont rallied and was able to tie the score shortly into the second half. The Lions gained the lead with just 13 minutes to play and added a third goal shortly thereafter. Despite the season-ending loss, Head Coach Joe Bergin said he was happy with the effort of the Scotties.
"We had the will, but just couldn't find the way in the second half," Bergin said. "I'm sad with this being the end of our season, but with all the major injuries we suffered, I have never been prouder of a team."
Among numerous season-ending injuries endured by the Scotties through the final stretch of their season, was the loss of All-Conference midfielder, Becky Rowe and All-Freshman goal keeper, Ashley Watts.
The Scotties close their season with an overall record of 10-9-1.
