Kaplan was the only spring sport female athlete from a Georgia college or university to receive the award that recognizes the most accomplished NCAA student-athletes from all divisions, who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.

A May graduate, Kaplan helped lead the Scotties to a Great South Athletic Conference Championship and first-round victory in the NCAA Championships during the spring of her senior year. A member of both the Scottie tennis and swimming teams, Kaplan was named the GSAC Tennis Player of the Year as a junior.

A double major in International Relations and Political Science, Kaplan graduated with a 3.97 grade point average. A native of Charlottesville, Va., Kaplan received the Agnes Scott Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award at the Athletic Department Banquet in April.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships are a one-time, nonrenewable grant in the amount of $7,500. The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Program was created in 1964 to recognize fall, winter and spring sport student-athletes who excel athletically and academically and to promote and encourage postgraduate education.

Kaplan plans to attend Georgetown University in September, where she will pursue a Master’s Degree in Security Studies.
