Playing in front of a home crowd celebrating a "Purple Out", the Agnes Scott softball defeated Spelman by scores of 10-0 and 10-2 on Wednesday. The victories raise the Scotties GSAC conference record to 4-2.
In the first game, the Scotties jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Melanie Ennis was 2-for-2 on the game, including two runs scored and an RBI.
Ashley Berger and Sydney Glasgow combined for the two-hit shutout.
In the second game of the double-header, the Scotties held only a narrow margin, with the score 3-2 midway through the third inning.
Agnes Scott responded with five runs in the bottom of the third, including a grand-slam, home-run by Brittany Wilson. Her four RBIs helped give the Scotties a commanding 8-2 lead. Spelman would not score again.
Pitchers Chelsea Kremer and Sydney Glasgow combined for five strikeouts in the victory.
Agnes Scott returns to action on Sunday, as they host Maryville in a double-header. First-pitch on Scottie Field at Oakhurst Park is scheduled for 1 p.m.
