The Agnes Scott basketball team experienced a season of firsts during the 2009-10 season.
The Scotties' brand of scrappy defense ranked first in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC), leading the conference in scoring defense, field-goal percentage defense and three-point field-goal percentage defense. Agnes Scott also ranked 31st in the nation in field-goal percentage defense out of 424 teams.
For the first time in school history, Agnes Scott hosted the GSAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. The Scotties reached the semifinals, before falling to eventual conference champion, Maryville.
There was no place like home for the 2009-10 Scotties, as the Woodruff Gymnasium played host for a 5-2 home conference record and 7-4 overall home mark. The Scotties finished the season with a 6-8 conference record and 9-16 overall mark.
Numerous Scotties received GSAC post-season honors. First-year, Genefine Sapateh received her first conference honors, being named to both the All-Conference and All-Freshman Teams. Senior Am'asa Baldwin was again named to the GSAC All-Academic Team.
Agnes Scott played their first games in California, as the team continued their tradition of long-distance trips. The Scotties played two games and took in the sights of Venice Beach and the Hollywood Walk of Fame during the trip.
Agnes Scott travelled to New York City two years ago and will fly to Boston this upcoming season to compete in the Seven Sisters Classic.
