There are many ways that you, as an alumna, can have a positive impact on Agnes Scott– from encouraging prospective students to supporting the annual fund, your service to the college is important. Please consider becoming involved as an active alumna volunteer and play a leadership role at Agnes Scott. Descriptions of our opportunities for service are listed below.
Alumnae Association Board of Directors
The Agnes Scott Alumnae Association is governed by a board of directors. Board members are elected by alumnae for two-year terms. The board is composed of four officers, and 18 alumnae members.
The board establishes goals for the Association and maintains communication with alumnae, students and the college. Board committees assist the college with alumnae programming, student relations, fundraising and admission. Committees include alumnae not currently serving on the board and can be an excellent way to begin your involvement with the alumnae association and lead to future leadership opportunities.
At reunion class meetings (every fifth year after graduation), classes elect officers including president, vice president, secretary, annual fund chair and reunion chair. Class leaders keep classmates in touch with each other, the office of alumnae relations and the college. They also oversee fundraising, reunion planning and class news.
Regional Chapter Steering Committees and Event Hosts
There are many opportunities for alumnae to get involved in their local area. Regional chapters provide alumnae with networking, social and educational opportunities in their local areas. Most regional chapters have a steering committee, some big, some small, that get together to plan events. Whether you live near a regional chapter or not, the office of alumnae relations is always looking for alumnae willing to help plan or host events for Agnes Scott graduates in their area.

Regional teams of alumnae volunteers aid the admission office with recruitment activities: attending college fairs, hosting receptions for prospective and current students and calling or writing prospective and accepted students.

Class Fund Chairs and Leadership Giving
The Office of Development is aided by class fund chairs. These volunteers assist with a variety of fundraising activities during and between reunion years. Class fund chairs are important to the success of the college’s annual fund and overall fundraising.
Another way that alumnae can play an important role in service to the college is to participate in giving to the college, especially through the Annual Fund. Alumnae participation is important to the college financially but can also have a positive impact on college ranking. Alumnae able to give at the leadership level ($1,000 and above) are invited to the annual Tower Circle Dinner and alumnae that include Agnes Scott in their estate planning are invited to the annual Frances Winship Walters Society Reception.
