Need-based aid is awarded through the financial aid office. When determining a student's financial need, the financial aid office considers several factors including:
- Parent and student income
- Parent and student current assets
- Federal taxes paid
- Number of people dependent on the family’s income
- Number of children in the family currently attending college
- Age(s) of parent(s)
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC), as determined by the U.S. Government based on the FAFSA
How to Apply
To be considered for need-based aid, you must apply and be accepted for admission to the college. We encourage you to apply for financial aid as early in the cycle as possible.
To determine your eligibility for federal financial aid, you must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available at most high school college guidance offices and online. The federal school code for Agnes Scott College is 001542. The Financial Aid Priority Application deadline is February 15.
What Does an Award Package Usually Include?
Once we determine your eligibility for financial aid, we apply assistance from all sources, including merit-based scholarships, toward your eligibility. If you qualify for aid, your package may contain any or all of the following:
- Grants (institutional, federal and state awards that do not need to be repaid)
- Merit-based scholarships (which also require no repayment)
- Student employment
- Loans and other payment options
