Deadlines: March 1 for summer admission. June 1 for fall admission. After these deadlines, admission is on a space-available basis.

M.A.T. Required Documentation

  • An official transcript for each college or university you have attended. If you have completed college, one transcript must show the awarding of the bachelor's degree. If you are admitted prior to completing the bachelor's degree, you will be required to submit a final transcript that shows the degree prior to enrolling.
  • Test scores (see application for specific requirements)
  • A statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation sent to the M.A.T. admission office from former teachers, advisers, and/or employers attesting to qualifications for graduate study and suitability for teaching.
  • For the English M.A.T. program, a portfolio of writing samples (minimum of two works), including at least one paper from a prior upper-level English literature course
  • Applicants are invited to submit a letter explaining the extent to which their undergraduate coursework meets program requirements. This will aid the admission committee in determining whether deficiencies may be readily met within the two elective courses in the program.

Post-Bacc Pre-Med Required Documentation

  • Official transcripts of all prior college work
  • Test scores (see application for specific requirements)
  • Two letters of recommendation sent to Agnes Scott from former teachers, advisers and/or employers attesting to your qualifications and interest for pursuing a medical program
  • A one-page statement of goals for entering the program, your educational background and your interest in pursuing a medical/health career. Submit this on a separate sheet and attach it to your application.
Background Checks Required for M.A.T. Students
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GPSC) requires applicants for teacher certification to pass the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) criminal background check. Once accepted into the M.A.T. program at Agnes Scott, you will be required to undergo this check. Agnes Scott College Public Safety will conduct this check at no charge.  Learn more about GPSC policy
