Kemper Scholars Program

The James S. Kemper Foundation provides scholarships to first-year students pursuing liberal arts degrees who are interested in careers in business or administration.

Scholarships range from $3,000-8,000 per year for a student’s sophomore, junior and senior years. Students also receive $2,000-$6,900 project stipends for two summers, annual attendance at the Kemper Scholar Conference for three years, and a non-profit internship in Chicago during the sophomore summer.

How to Apply
Each fall, the Office of Experiential Learning calls for applications and often holds information sessions open to all interested students.

The OEL will review your application and will notify you if you have been selected as a Kemper Scholar from Agnes Scott. Follow these steps to submit the two (2) part application:

  • Download the application (PDF file)
  • Download the Kemper Scholarship form (Word doc)
  • Application to the Kemper Scholars Program requires that you fill in two forms: one a PDF “live” form that you must fill in using your computer’s Adobe software (after completely filling in the form, print & scan.  Save the scan as a PDF doc and name it  "yourFirstname_Lastname_JSK_app"). You should fill the other form in using MSWord software. Place your cursor after each question and type until you are finished. The space will expand as needed.  Save it to your hardrive as "yourFirstname_Lastname_JSK_app"
  • Fill in the form completely (hand written applications will not be accepted)
  • Don't forget to print the PDF application and scan it - saving as a PDF. The PDF application will not save the data you type in. Visit the Technology Production Studio (TPS) in McCain Library G-43 to access scanners.
  • E-mail the forms and the following documentation to iwilliams@agnesscott.edu. Please include “Kemper Scholarship application” in the subject line.
    • College transcript (See instructions for Agnes Scott transcripts. For delivery method, type or write in Kemper Scholar - Electronic.)   Once complete this allows the Kemper Selection Committee to review your High School transcript and SAT or ACT test results.
    • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a college professor
    • Your résumé (optional)
If you have any questions regarding filling out the applications, call Lauretta Saint-Louis at (404) 471-5150.  If you need to scan any of your documents, you can visit the Technology Production Studio (TPS) in McCain Library G-43.
