All the Elements of a Unique Program
Teaching students to understand and appreciate the significance of the sciences is essential to a well-rounded secondary education. Our master of arts in teaching secondary chemistry program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to help young students cultivate scientific curiosity, knowledge and literacy.
This program includes rigorous course requirements in science instruction, learning and curriculum development. The program also features comprehensive field experience including labs and educational seminars, internships and a three-month, supervised student-teaching assignment. M.A.T. secondary chemistry candidates also enjoy the resources of the Fernbank Science Center, with its quality facilities and accomplished faculty, located just minutes from campus. An agency of Atlanta’s DeKalb County School System, the Fernbank Science Center is wholly focused on science education for elementary and high school students.
The M.A.T. secondary chemistry program is open to men and women with an undergraduate major in chemistry or related area of study without teacher certification.
