Professor Drinkwater's interests include Latin elegy, mythology, Latin palaeography, mediaeval studies, Greek lyric, and genre studies.

Text and Subtext in Ovid's Heroides, American Journal of Philology (128: 3 (Fall 2007): 367-387; “Irreconcilable Differences: Generic Incompatibility in Ovid, Heroides 5 and 16,” presented at the 2004 American Philological Association meeting; “Slave to Boy Love: Tibullus, Marathus, and the servitium amoris, presented at the 2005 Classical Association of the Middle West and South meeting.
