Teaching and Scholarly Interests:
Professor Rees' areas of expertise include economic anthropology; peasant household economics; migration; agriculture and women's work; indigenous peoples; and the United States and Mexico. Through the use of survey and ethnographic methods Professor Rees seeks to understand regional systems and communities, as well as individual and household interactions with those systems.


Professional Activities:
Professor Rees is the author of "Ayuda or Work? Labor History of Female Heads of Household From Oaxaca, Mexico" published in Labor in Cross Cultural Perspective (Society for Economic Anthropology, 2006). Her work in Mexico and in Mexican research institutions has resulted in numerous other publications on indigenous technologies, Mexican institutions and households, and migration and women's work in Oaxaca.
