Professor Scott's interests include U.S. foreign policy, development theory, gender politics, feminist theory, and U.S. foreign policy in the post-Vietnam era.

Professor Scott's publications include Gender and Development: Rethinking Modernization and Dependency Theory (Lynne Rienner, 1996) along with numerous articles.
