WATER ACTION PLAN GOALS

2012: Completion of Agnes Scott's Water Conservation Plan

  • Potable water goal: 12% reduction in 5 years from low flow fixture renovation; additional 2-3% reduction from behavioral change
  • Wastewater goal: to reduce the amount of contaminants coming from campus entering the watershed from the ASC water system
  • Bottled water reduction goal: 50% reduction of bottled water use on campus in 5 years

2011: Completed updated water audit and data collection.

Spring 2010: The college sets water-reduction goals based on the audit. The measures range from encouraging behavioral changes to installing new fixtures.

Fall 2010: Presented our water data, analysis and goals at the Association for the Advancement of Higher Education's (AASHE) annual conference in Denver, CO.

2008: Staff and faculty volunteers launched the college’s first annual water audit by gathering data from all nonresidential buildings.

2007: Began to use the college’s retention pond (Lake Agnes) to supply 100% of the water for campus irrigation, and  achieved water reduction in several other areas, too.
