WATER ACTION PLAN GOALS
2012: Completion of Agnes Scott's Water Conservation Plan
- Potable water goal: 12% reduction in 5 years from low flow fixture renovation; additional 2-3% reduction from behavioral change
- Wastewater goal: to reduce the amount of contaminants coming from campus entering the watershed from the ASC water system
- Bottled water reduction goal: 50% reduction of bottled water use on campus in 5 years
2011: Completed updated water audit and data collection.
Spring 2010: The college sets water-reduction goals based on the audit. The measures range from encouraging behavioral changes to installing new fixtures.
Fall 2010: Presented our water data, analysis and goals at the Association for the Advancement of Higher Education's (AASHE) annual conference in Denver, CO.
2008: Staff and faculty volunteers launched the college’s first annual water audit by gathering data from all nonresidential buildings.
2007: Began to use the college’s retention pond (Lake Agnes) to supply 100% of the water for campus irrigation, and achieved water reduction in several other areas, too.
