Sustainability Steering Subcommittees
The Sustainability Steering Committee is a 20-member group of trustees, alumnae, students, faculty and staff headed by President Kiss. The committee guides the college’s sustainability plan and Climate Action Plan. You can help put these plans into action by joining any of the eight SSC subcommittees whose members include campus community volunteers and the Scottie Green Team.
Scottie Green Team
Volunteer with the Scottie Green Team, a committee of students, faculty and staff that focuses on the day-to-day environmental concerns and plans for conservation initiatives and education activities on campus. The team helps make green choices and behavior easier for the campus community.
Campus recycling and composting, alternative transportation, energy conservation, green purchasing and green building design are areas of concern that the Green Team has been addressing. The Green Team communicates regularly with the campus community to solicit ideas about environmental concerns and to provide conservation solutions.
Environmental Resident Program
Join the Environmental Resident program and be a student leader working with the residence life staff and the sustainability office to promote campus-wide involvement in sustainability initiatives. As residence life office liaisons, ERs advise the sustainability staff about student engagement. ERs organize fun events year round such as RecycleMania, Earth Hour, Earth Day, Recycling Week, National Teach-in about Global Warming and Sustainability and movie nights.
