Agnes Scott College Department of Music announces an opening to teach Music 111, Music Theory I, during the spring semester 2010.
Course Description:
The study of music's structure and notation, including composition and development of aural skills via computer-assisted instruction. Using repertoire from classical, popular, and non-western musics, course topics include diatonic harmony, voice leading, cadences, inversion of triads, non-chord tones and others. The course will be offered 8:45-9:50 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Requirements:
1. Master's degree preferably in music theory or composition; or master's degree in another musical discipline with significant theory training.
2. Demonstrable experience teaching the course at the college level.
3. Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with and a willingness to include a variety of repertoire, as indicated in the course description.
