Evelyn Pielou

Evelyn Pielou was born in Bognor Regis, England. She studied at the University of London and became a biologist, eventuallybecoming a professor at Dalhousie University and Oil Sands Environmental Research professor at the U. of Lethbridge. Shecontributed significantly to the development of mathematical ecology and wrote several books. She received the LawsonMedal, the Eminent Ecologist Award and the Distinguished Statistical Ecologist Award from the International Congress ofEcology.
